Founded in May 2017, Black Thistle Media was born as the internet presence for Calum Menzies video production output.

Since then he has made a variety of video's including the award-winning "MS, Mexico & Me: Aileen's Story". A documentary 
about a woman from the Isle of Lewis with Multiple Sclerosis who fundraised to get Stem Cell Treatment in Mexico. As part of this he went to Mexico in February 2018 to capture a part of the production over there.

He has also worked to create video content with the RNLI, The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund, several musicians, actors, friends and animals.


As Black Thistle Media he makes events videos, documentaries, music videos and much more.

Born in the Highlands of Scotland, as a youngster Calum began making videos as a hobby.  His love of television and films made him study a HND course, Creative Industries: TV at North East Scotland College in Aberdeen.

This gave him access to learn and refine many skills which has allowed him to specialise in Camera and Editing work on various different projects.  He graduated from the Television course at Edinburgh Napier University in order to continue to degree level.

By working with a variety of people on several projects he has had the pleasure of telling the stories of ordinary yet remarkable people.
